Televisions are so 90s

I was trying to collect some extra chairs for the party this weekend from the 2 neighbors I like. The guys three doors down from us have 30 folding chairs in their basement for some reason no one can remember. So, I spend a long time today lugging them down the street. Afterwards they showed me their newly converted “media room” complete with reclining chairs and one of those cool projectors. You know, the kind that let’s you display things from a TV, computer, DVD player or whatever on the wall.

It was pretty neat, I must say. The picture from the projector was really clear, and you can move it anywhere you want.

So, of course, I spent time this afternoon when I should have been working reading projector reviews and trying to figure out how quickly I can get one. If anyone would like to give me a gift, take the hint.

My random job

So, in case you haven’t noticed, my job requires be to do research on a lot of different things. If I’m working for a nonprofit client, I usually have to learn a lot about the issues they cover, as well as industry and political problems they might encounter.

My for-profit clients are different, and sometimes a lot more fun. I usually have to find as much as I can about a specific product or niche – good and bad. And a lot of times I have no idea why or what they’re going to do with the info I collect or the various write-ups. So, I can spend a week learning everything I can about plus size lingerie or IRC clients. It’s fun to always have something new to learn about, and makes me full of useless trivia.

Living poolside

Considering how miserable the weather is going to be this week, I was very excited to get asked to feed a friend’s cat last minute. They live in one of those huge high-rise buildings down on Mass Ave, and there’s a pool. A great one. So, after feeding the cat and playing with her for a few minutes, I’m spending some time poolside.

I went over yesterday to get the keys and details and checked out the deck. Very nice. Not only are there actually comfortable outdoor chaise lounges, they also have vending machines and a water cooler.

I might stay until Fall.

More party shopping

So, Little Sister’s wedding shower is going to be a co-ed, Prohibition-era theme party. No costumes, but the food and drinks will be from those times. Should be great.

Today the boyfriend is doing research on cigars to buy – mid priced but reasonable quality. I’m really thinking about the smell in our furniture.

Hopefully the weather will be reasonable and we can have all the smoking outside.

Meanwhile, I really need to get going on some of the food preparation.
