Yes more home furniture shopping

Written by SBF on March 16, 2011 – 10:18 pm

Plans for the work we’re doing to the house continue. Things are moving along, and surprisingly at a lower price than we thought. So yay on that. But, since it’s us, we have to spend that extra money somewhere. Right now it’s going to go to a couple of new things for the living room. Most of the furniture we have in there now is left over from our separate apartments. I want to upgrade a little. I’ve seen a couple of contemporary coffee tables I like, and the boyfriend has designs on a really nice pair of comfy chairs.

A house is the most fun toy ever.

Read MOAR

Written by SBF on February 22, 2011 – 2:02 pm

Yes, I know that’s misspelled. Moar is a slang combination (web-created) of more and roar. For when you very much want more of something. Anyway, on to the actual post.

A blog reader (hi!) asked why I mention product reviews so much. The reason is simple. There are a hundred different products out there for any use you can think of. The best way to figure out which is likely to work best for your purposes is to see what other people say. So if you see ad advertisement for Lipofuze, you can find out what people who’ve tried it have to say.

Pretty simple, I think. Not that you will definitely have the same experience as anyone else, but it helps. Dig?

Man clothes

Written by SBF on February 19, 2011 – 11:21 pm

Because I’m the best girlfriend who has ever existed, I agreed to go shopping with the boyfriend this morning. Always a bad idea. We both enjoy shopping (obvious from looking at our respective bank accounts), but our style of doing it is very different.

He’s an aimless wanderer. Like, even though hip hop clothing is not huge in his wardrobe, he’ll spend an hour looking at jeans. And maybe try one pair on. Silly.

I’m a heat-seeking missile in a store. I know what I’m looking for and where to find it. Even when I’m just window shopping I do it with purpose.

Suffice it to say we weren’t speaking to each other by the time we left the mall.

My obsession continues

Written by SBF on January 27, 2011 – 11:24 pm

Readers who’ve been following along for the past few months will know I’ve become slightly obsessed with Little Sister’s pregnancy. But don’t get it twisted, she eggs me on.

Like this morning she sent me an email because she’s looking for a new best prenatal vitamin. Hello? Asking for trouble, my friend.

I’ve sent her at least seven different articles and three suggestions already.

We’ve scheduled a follow-up call to discuss options. She loves it, so do I.

New phone shopping

Written by SBF on January 22, 2011 – 4:43 pm

It’s the least wonderful time of every two years. Hmm, that didn’t really work, and it isn’t true.

My cell phone contract expires in a few weeks and I’m going to get a new phone. I love trying to figure out what new shiny thing I’m going to get. I’m deciding between the htc desire android and one of the new blackberrys.

The boyfriend is trying to influence me, to no avail. I’m choosing based on reviews and price, not coolness. Okay, I’m choosing based on coolness. Can’t help it. Shiny!

Speaking of babies

Written by SBF on January 10, 2011 – 12:46 pm

Little Sister’s pregnancy has made me think about when I want kids. The boyfriend and I have discussed this, since it seems like we’ll be together for a long time. I think I’d like to do things in the classic order, marriage then children, but I’m not feeling any particular rush for either.

But then I’ll be in a store sometimes. And maybe there’s a guy with his two kids looking at gifts for mom from children. They have all kinds of different ideas, some good, some weird. But they know whatever they get, mom will love it.

Or I’ll see a woman just walking down the street, holding hands with her daughter, chatting about their days.

That kind of stuff makes me want to get with child immediately. But it passes. But I know I want to be a mom.
