Thanks, but no…
Written by Jen on April 24, 2009 – 12:46 pmIs it necessary to play a trailer for Obsessed every 10 minutes? I miss cable…
White She Devil the movie? Not interested.

Where the Wild Things Are!
Written by SBF on April 19, 2009 – 5:37 pmCheck it. They’re making a live action version of one of my favorite children’s books, Where the Wild Things Are. The story, written by Maurice Sendak is about a naughty little boy named Max who invents a world populated by monsters, friendly and not.
The movie is directed by Spike Jonze (hmmm) and stars Mark Ruffalo and Katherine Keener (yay!). It opens in the fall.
From the trailer, it actually looks good. I think it’s scary to see a movie based on a book like this, so attached to memories and personal imagination. But I must admit I am intrigued so far.
Trailer and new area rugs.

Sad, sad news
Written by SBF on February 28, 2009 – 12:30 pmI am a very sad girl. I found out this week that my best girl J is leaving town. She’s been my friend for a long time and my partner in crime for months now. So crappy. To be as dramatic as possible I offer a clip from Beaches.

Oscars or whatever
Written by SBF on February 23, 2009 – 7:09 pmI didn’t actually watch the Oscars because… well, honestly because I was drunk and “fell asleep” by 7 pm. Must remember that I can’t start drinking at noon. Ever. Anyway, I got all I needed to know thanks to the internet, so it didn’t matter.
I did however arrive at the boyfriend’s apartment a little while ago to see him watching this. You should too.
Oh, and if you didn’t see Milk, you should watch this documentary on Hulu, The Times Of Harvey Milk.

Not a good way to wake up, I assure you
Written by SBF on February 14, 2009 – 11:26 amLast night we went up to Baltimore to visit some friends of mine. They’re really fun people and booze in Baltimore is a lot cheaper than here, so you can imagine how it all ended. Suffice it to say no one was driving anywhere, so the boyfriend and I crashed at their house.
At around 5 am I awoke to what sounded like a dance party of some kind. Turns out it was S watching television and dancing around the living room. In her drunkenness she forgot we were there. Here’s what I walked out to see.

Home from the Holidays
Written by SBF on December 28, 2008 – 11:18 pmThe best part of holiday craziness is when it is finally over. As a serious New Year’s Eve hater, I am done. Nothing particularly interesting happened while I was shuttling my ass up and down the Northeast Corridor, thank goodness.
Saturday the boyfriend and I hid in my apartment, eating stale cookies and watching movies. That was good times. I convinced him to watch my 5 favorite “girl” movies from the 80′s (cable was out). The results?
Heathers
Even better than I remember. “I don’t patronize bunny rabbits.” I’ve owned the DVD for years but didn’t really watch it. That’s a shame. Smoking, screwing, killing. Actual high school was so disappointing for me.
Breakfast Club
Pretty good still. Fantastic music. Still don’t get why everyone thought putting on lipstick from cleavage is so gross. Stupid, but not gross.
Pretty Woman
Wow, I kind of hate this movie now. Worked much better when I was 12. Came out in 1990, but it is 80′s. Boyfriend was shocked that my parents let me see it. Hell, we rented it almost every week. They always were clueless.
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Don’t get me started. Gotta love a dance movie. Terrible moves, hair and clothes. Yikes. But, now I have “dancing in heaven I never thought I’d ever get my feet this far…” stuck in my head forever.
Dirty Dancing
Yeah, more dancing. Ah, the halcyon days of illegal abortion. Sigh. While typing this I’m seeing a commercial for an interview with Patrick Swayze. Seems like he’s doing well after the dire diagnosis.
