Gadget insanity continues

Er, yeah. We have a new house problem. We found a set of outlets in the backyard that reach nicely under the deck off our kitchen. So, now that area is the warm weather family room. Cool because it never gets sun, we can say we’re outside but still chill on a sofa like the lazy bums we are.

And thanks to the nice folks at turtle beach, we can play games and whatever without disturbing the neighbors. So far we’ve been able to resist buying a mini fridge, but it’s only a matter of time, I’m sure.

As usual, the boyfriend provides much of the entertainment in my life. He’s in total manly organization mode, and is hilarious about it.

We’ve gone to building supply stores three times this week so he can “work on the basement.” So far that means trying to find places to put his new toys. I drew the line at a barcode scanner, though it was pretty fun. There are a lot more uses than I’d thought at first. Maybe for his birthday.

Some new people just moved in across the street from us. It seems like a couple with two other miscellaneous people of somewhat mysterious origin and relationship. I’ve spoken to three of thee four of them, and everyone seems nice.

The woman (part of the couple) works from home, so we wave at each other a lot at random times during the day. Not this week because of the Death!Hot, but still.

Ran into her this morning at the corner store and we had a nice chat. She’s a graphic artist, which is cool. And very open. She was telling me about some health stuff, and I was able to use some info I got recently on cleansonix to help her out.

She was a little shocked, but I told her how much time I spend researching the most random things, and she was intrigued. We’re planning to start having procrastination parties, where we escape work to hang out and drink ~~scotch~~ coffee.

For reals. Little Mama (the artist formerly known as Little Sister) is having her first (of two) baby showers this weekend. This one is just for friends etc. in the DC area. She’ll do another at home next month. As co-hostess and party starter, I was charged with buying the funny shirts, decorations, and planning the menu.

The best part? I got to plan a menu I don’t have to cook. My other co-hostess insisted on having the party catered. So I spent hours looking at pretty sounding food and didn’t have to even go inside a kitchen. Everyone wins!

Sweets for my sweet

Okay, to be fair, she’s not that sweet. But I do love Little Mama (the artist formerly known as Little Sister), and show that love in the best way possible, by spending money on her. Of course, with her pregnancy, much of my spending has moved to the bun in her oven.

I think her baby shower will be a combination of both. Lots of stuff to pamper mommy, and even more wonderful things for the baby. After checking out some adorable and delicious baby shower edibles, I’m in full planning mode, even though the party isn’t until August.

Infants like diamonds, right?

In my never ending campaign to spoil Little Mama’s coming child, I’ve been looking at some unique baby gifts lately. There’s no point telling me not to, it won’t work. I don’t care. That kid is getting all the best, coolest things I can find, end of story.

I’m joking about the title, by the way. Gifts don’t have to be extravagant to be wonderful. As long as there’s a balance between useful and indulgent, anything goes. Except for toys that make noise. Those are a deal-breaker if you want to stay friends with the parents.

Lost and found and lost again

I seem to have developed a serious personality disorder recently. I’m not sure what the clinical term for it is, but basically I can’t keep an eye on anything. I’m losing everything.

In the four hours I’ve been awake today I’ve lost my car keys, my glasses, and a cat toy. The glasses are lost for the tenth time this month. Right now I’m thinking of buying a bunch of pairs of cheap eyeglasses so I can have one in every room of the house and our cars.

The problem seems to be every time I pick something up and take it to a different room, it’s gone forever. I found the keys and managed to lose them again right away. Sigh.
