Awesomesauce

Some favorites:
Dylan Thomas on Rudyard Kipling
“Mr Kipling … stands for everything in this cankered world which I would wish were otherwise.”
Truman Capote on Jack Kerouac
“That’s not writing, that’s typing.”
Mark Twain on Jane Austen
“Every time I read ‘Pride and Prejudice,’ I want to dig her up and hit her over the skull with her own shin-bone.”
William Faulkner on Ernest Hemingway
“He has never been known to use a word that might send a reader to the dictionary.”
Ernest Hemingway on William Faulkner
“Poor Faulkner. Does he really think big emotions come from big words?”

Gadget insanity continues
Written by SBF on June 18, 2011 – 1:53 pmEr, yeah. We have a new house problem. We found a set of outlets in the backyard that reach nicely under the deck off our kitchen. So, now that area is the warm weather family room. Cool because it never gets sun, we can say we’re outside but still chill on a sofa like the lazy bums we are.
And thanks to the nice folks at turtle beach, we can play games and whatever without disturbing the neighbors. So far we’ve been able to resist buying a mini fridge, but it’s only a matter of time, I’m sure.

That man of mine
Written by SBF on June 16, 2011 – 12:16 pmAs usual, the boyfriend provides much of the entertainment in my life. He’s in total manly organization mode, and is hilarious about it.
We’ve gone to building supply stores three times this week so he can “work on the basement.” So far that means trying to find places to put his new toys. I drew the line at a barcode scanner, though it was pretty fun. There are a lot more uses than I’d thought at first. Maybe for his birthday.

New Neighbors
Written by SBF on June 10, 2011 – 6:51 pmSome new people just moved in across the street from us. It seems like a couple with two other miscellaneous people of somewhat mysterious origin and relationship. I’ve spoken to three of thee four of them, and everyone seems nice.
The woman (part of the couple) works from home, so we wave at each other a lot at random times during the day. Not this week because of the Death!Hot, but still.
Ran into her this morning at the corner store and we had a nice chat. She’s a graphic artist, which is cool. And very open. She was telling me about some health stuff, and I was able to use some info I got recently on cleansonix to help her out.
She was a little shocked, but I told her how much time I spend researching the most random things, and she was intrigued. We’re planning to start having procrastination parties, where we escape work to hang out and drink scotch coffee.
