Tiny little Twilight post

Written by Jen on February 20, 2011 – 11:29 am

My girl SBF has done an admirable job of keeping this blog Twilight free. That is much appreciated. As a fan of vampire stories and a person who has been conscious over the past few years, I’ve certainly been “exposed” to Twilight enough.

I fact, I even read half of the first book and watched the entire first film of the series. Both of those are time I expect to seriously regret wasting when I am on my deathbed. Horrible, hated it.

There’s no point explaining why. If you hate them too you understand, if you love them nothing will change your mind.

So why am I bringing this up? Because a friend sent me a link to a hilarious blog about grammar/writing in Twilight, and you should read it. Go to Reasoning With Vampires.

Just a sample:

Man clothes

Written by SBF on February 19, 2011 – 11:21 pm

Because I’m the best girlfriend who has ever existed, I agreed to go shopping with the boyfriend this morning. Always a bad idea. We both enjoy shopping (obvious from looking at our respective bank accounts), but our style of doing it is very different.

He’s an aimless wanderer. Like, even though hip hop clothing is not huge in his wardrobe, he’ll spend an hour looking at jeans. And maybe try one pair on. Silly.

I’m a heat-seeking missile in a store. I know what I’m looking for and where to find it. Even when I’m just window shopping I do it with purpose.

Suffice it to say we weren’t speaking to each other by the time we left the mall.

Pills, pills, pills

Written by SBF on February 15, 2011 – 10:39 am

You’ll get the joke after my next post, I promise.

Anyway, the get healthy kick at our house continues. I have to say, I’m very proud of us. The boyfriend and I have been doing a really good job lately. We’re eating better, exercising more, getting good sleep, and taking our new vitamin supplements every day, instead of when we remember to.

Go team, go! He’s talking about training for a marathon. That’s going too far, I think.

Bowl of delicious

Written by SBF on February 13, 2011 – 1:53 pm

I found a big package of ground beef in the freezer that needed to be used, so I decided to make chili. Amounts are approximate and pretty much all of the ingredients are optional/substitution friendly.

Yummy Chili Recipe

2-3 lbs ground beef (turkey or chicken would work too)

2 chili peppers (whichever you like, remove the seeds and ribs to control heat)

2 large onions (or 3 medium)

8 cloves of garlic, minced

1/3 cup chili powder + more to taste (use the best kind you can afford, it matters)

2 tsp dried oregano

2 tsp smoked paprika

2 tbsp tomato paste

1 26 oz can plum tomatoes

2-3 cups low sodium beef broth (you can substitute beer for some of the broth, but we don’t waste beer in food at my house)

2 15 oz cans of beans, rinsed and drained (I like a mix of pinto and red, but any combo will work)

Salt & pepper to taste

Pardon my obsession

Written by SBF on February 8, 2011 – 12:44 pm

I’ve been writing about one genre of product for a while now, and it’s grown into a full-blown obsession. I try not to get so fixated, but I can’t help it.

Right now I’m working on 1500 words about liponox. Interesting, really.

The weather’s been so all over the place I’m just shutting the drapes and working 24/7. The animals and the boyfriend are not amused. They need attention. Excuse me, they want attention. It’s not actually a need (someone explain that to them).
