Not the same

Written by SBF on February 25, 2011 – 12:23 pm

The boyfriend and I were talking this morning about vitamins. He’s taking a bunch now, and they seem to be working well. He’s got more energy and his skin looks great.

I usually just take a multivitamin, but I’ve been looking into the best vitamins for women, and have found a couple I think I’ll try.

It’s funny how we basically eat the same things but need different vitamins. Not just because he’s a man and I’m not, but because we’re different people, and everyone’s body reacts differently. There’s no perfect solution that will work for everyone. You just have to find out what’s best for you.

Read MOAR

Written by SBF on February 22, 2011 – 2:02 pm

Yes, I know that’s misspelled. Moar is a slang combination (web-created) of more and roar. For when you very much want more of something. Anyway, on to the actual post.

A blog reader (hi!) asked why I mention product reviews so much. The reason is simple. There are a hundred different products out there for any use you can think of. The best way to figure out which is likely to work best for your purposes is to see what other people say. So if you see ad advertisement for Lipofuze, you can find out what people who’ve tried it have to say.

Pretty simple, I think. Not that you will definitely have the same experience as anyone else, but it helps. Dig?

Turkey Burgers my way

Written by SBF on February 21, 2011 – 9:19 am

As i’v been mentioning, the boyfriend and I are trying to eat healthy (er) lately. One of our favorite things to have for a quick dinner (especially after a few beers) is burgers and fries. Not remotely healthy.

But he loves my turkey burgers, so last night I decided to make them with oven “fried” potatoes to see if they’d fill the same craving. I’m happy to say they really did. And neither of us went to bed feeling like we were going to explode. This recipe makes 4-8 burgers depending on how big you want them. I usually go for 6, a good balance between a burger that feels substantial, but is small enough to cook fast – that’s the secret the keeping them moist.

Turkey Burgers Recipe

1.3 lbs ground turkey (don’t use just white meat, the burgers will be flavorless and dry – trust me)

3/4 cup of green peppers – deiced (great color contrast)

3/4 cup of onion – diced (yellow or white, red is better served on top of the burger)

1-2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (I like closer to 2 – umami out the wazoo)

1 tbsp vegetable oil (anything with a mild taste will work – not olive oil!)

1/2 tbsp dried parsley

2 cloves of garlic – minced

1-2 tsp paprika

salt & pepper to taste Read more »

Useful and helpful

Written by SBF on February 20, 2011 – 10:43 pm

Checking out some information on people and what diet supplements they use has proved to be useful and helpful. Useful for work, because I can help my clients craft language and reports that their customers actually want to read. Helpful because the boyfriend is experimenting with some right now and it’s good to be able to give him some places to start.

It’s hard to remember life before the internet, isn’t it? When we had to rely on only people we know and advertisements to decide what products to try out.
