Putting together a recipe
Written by Jen on November 29, 2010 – 10:14 amFriends of mine that don’t cook are always asking me how I put together recipes. The short answer is, it depends. The long answer follows:
Step 1 – The Idea
I either think of something I want to make, or have certain ingredients I need to incorporate into a meal. If I’m thinking of something specific, like eggplant parm, this part is over. More often I’ve got something I want to cook, but no specific idea of what type of preparation. Like if I bought a big bag of apples and need to use them up in a few days.

More car talk
Written by SBF on November 28, 2010 – 1:49 pmI just got home from Thanksgiving with my family. It was great. In fact, the boyfriend and I ended up with a car. How is kind of a long story, but basically my dad bought a car from a friend who was moving across the country and didn’t want to deal with getting their car that far.
But, it’s an SUV, and doesn’t really fit in my parents tiny garage. So, they needed to get rid of it. The boyfriend mentioned that he needed to get a good car since his new job is pretty far away. But between buying it and finding even the cheapest car insurancearound, money was a little too tight.
So, my dad decided to sell him the car for a really amazing price, and that was it. So now we’re those obnoxious city people with two cars. Necessary, but awful.

Twizzlers
Written by SBF on November 27, 2010 – 10:44 amOver the past few days I’ve rediscovered my love for Twizzlers. I hadn’t had any since college probably. Now I’m obsessed. I’ll let this creepy guy explain it:

Post Turkey Talk
Written by SBF on November 26, 2010 – 12:09 pmThanksgiving this year went very well. Little Sister and I have gotten to spend lots of quality time together, and neither of us had to cook anything. Instead we watched a lot of television, played a little tennis and argued for three hours about the best face moisturizer. I won, of course. Except for the tennis. That girl’s serve is impossible.
The boyfriend and my dad were inseparable, in fact, as I’m writing this the two of them have gone off somewhere for a drive. I’m a bit concerned.

Gone for a few days
Written by SBF on November 23, 2010 – 4:06 pmI’m off to see my parents for Thanksgiving with the boyfriend. Little Sister and her new husband are going to be there too, which is wonderful. I expect my father will educate me in all things cold air intake, my mother will complain about my car, and the rest of the family will try to figure out why I’m not married yet.
The best part is I’m not even bringing a computer with me. If any clients have huge emergencies I have my phone for emails, but plan to be completely work free until Saturday when we get back.
