The newlyweds
Written by SBF on October 26, 2010 – 11:12 pmAwww, so cute. Little Sister and her new husband (wow, that’s weird to say) came over for dinner tonight – fresh off their honeymoon. We got to see some great pictures, and just catch up with them. She’s so happy, I love it. Even if her being married makes me feel like I’m a hundred and twelve years old.
She’s still trying to find a job she likes so if anyone’s got info on jobs in health care industry, let me know. Now that the boyfriend and I are both securely employed, I can go back to worrying about her career prospects.

New meeting, old shoes
Written by SBF on October 26, 2010 – 3:12 pmI’m writing this from a coffee shop downtown. I have two meetings today a couple of blocks apart, so I’m just loitering around. My first meeting was with a new client, and they were uh, interesting. On the phone everyone seemed really down to earth and nice. Then I walked up to their big shiny metal building complete with the swankiest lobby I’ve ever seen.
I got escorted upstairs by a super fancy woman who told me she was “pleasantly surprised” that me and my “obviously old shoes” actually had business in that building.
I don’t think I closed my mouth for the next 20 minutes. Fortunately the clients are as nice as I’d thought, and we had a good laugh about the concierge. Turns out they get the office space for cheap because the building owner is a donor. I’m planning to wear tennis shoes and a bathrobe for any future visits.

Grocery stuck
Written by SBF on October 25, 2010 – 5:44 pmI just ran into the grocery store on the way home to grab some bread and a bottle of wine. Should have been 5 minutes, right? Of course not. It ended up taking almost an hour. First I got in line and thought I didn’t have my wallet. Then I found that but discovered I’d left my phone somewhere.
Finally at the front of the checkout line – one person ahead of me, and the barcode scanner wasn’t working, so they had to hand type in the codes for all the purchases. That was as much fun as it sounds like.
Then, as I’m walking out, some kid rides into the store (through the exit door) on a bicycle, knocking my bag out of my hand. So, bread crushed and wine broken. Add another 20 minutes to talk to the manager and assure them I wasn’t hurt or planning to sue, and grab new stuff.
I’m staying home for the rest of my life. Leaving is unsafe.

Dinner news
Written by SBF on October 25, 2010 – 8:44 amOh, for the record, the moussaka I made turned out great. I ended up using ground turkey (works great you just have to kick up the spices).

The never ending story
Written by SBF on October 24, 2010 – 7:09 pmFabulous. The great kitchen flood of 2010 is apparently the gift that keeps on giving. A shop vac, new padding, a new dish washer and more than one new chair slipcover couldn’t tame this thing.
We’ve still got mold, and have to get rid of it as soon as possible. I’m really not looking forward to this process. Though, replacing the above items was kind of fun. Maybe the memories can sustain me. Sigh, again.
