Sweet, sweet, silence
Written by SBF on May 27, 2010 – 6:33 pmI have recent learned that the best thing you could ever buy a parent is some ear plugs. Not the scary ones where you can’t hear anything, but just some nice noise reduction. Is that a real thing? My point is, it is very difficult (and weird now that I think about it) to have a “serious” conversation about finding thebest acne face wash in the same room with babies who have just learned how to make a lot of noise with their toys.
Yup, definitely not ready to have kids any time soon. Not that I was wondering.

Why not Finland?

This guy was born in Puerto Rico. That makes him an American citizen, thanks to the Jones-Shafroth Act that declares: “all persons born in Puerto Rico on or after 13 January 1941 to be U.S. citizens at birth.”
Why does that matter? Because some geniuses in Illinois tried to deport him… to Mexico. Because all brown people come from there, I guess. Just watch the video.

Baby mania!
Written by SBF on May 26, 2010 – 10:19 amI am exhausted, and deliriously happy right now. I’m writing from New York, where I’ve just spent the last 2 days helping my dear friend S take care of her adorable new twins, Gregory and Grace. My friend and her partner have been trying to adopt for three years, and their babies finally came home last week.
I’m staying for the rest of the week and then meeting the boyfriend and others in NJ for Memorial Day. Today I’m going shopping to get some baby clothes of course, and some new mommy survival items (wine and junk food).
I will be eschewing the tired dress twins alike silliness. They can do it when they’re old enough to choose to.

Pointless and bitchy interlude
Written by Jen on May 25, 2010 – 11:17 amI’m procrastinating right now, so I’ve been watching two kids play in their backyard under my window. Their father is inside, but “keeping an eye on them.” Sort of. The boys are about three and four I’d guess. They’ve been fighting over a toy for a few minutes. The older boy finally got it, and the younger hit him on the head with a toy truck to get it back.
It was a pretty hard smack, so he might be kind of hurt. The older boy is holding his head, screaming and trying to get his father to help. I timed it, and it took the guy 4 minutes to come outside and see what happened.
He tool both kids inside so I can’t see how bad the damage is, but I can still hear crying. This, my friends is why you have to actually watch children when they play. I hope the kid’s all right, and the parent realizes he needs pay closer attention.
