My kind of fun
Written by SBF on May 31, 2010 – 10:06 amSo, fine. Maybe I’m not as wild and crazy as I used to be. Who cares. Excitement can come from finding great discount shades for the guest room just like it can from a spontaneous trip to San Francisco with $50 in my pocket and no place to stay.
I always thought being in my 30s would find me remembering my wild youth with longing. I don’t. I’m glad to be past all of that insanity. I remember (most of) it fondly, you know?
Anyway, the point is, there are all kinds of fun, and as long as you enjoy them, it doesn’t matter. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some skinny dipping to do.

Let it be known
Written by Jen on May 30, 2010 – 6:21 pmThat SBF and her boyfriend tried (and failed miserably) to sing this song at karaoke last night. They were not “doin’ it well” at all.

Sort of relaxing
Written by SBF on May 30, 2010 – 2:25 pmSo, the beach trip is going well. I think. I’m spending most of it sitting on the back porch reading. The kids are running all over doing whatever, but I’ve been stressed and need some relaxation time.
It’s funny to think about all the years I’ve been taking this trip. Different people, but always one of two houses. Great times. We used to have a bigger crowd, but it’s nice to just be 5 of us, who are really comfortable with each other. We can eat together, drink together, and even talk about life insurance rate changes, politics, and religion together. Those are good friends.

Ready to party
Written by SBF on May 29, 2010 – 7:23 pmSort of. After a great week surrounded by babies it is really nice be around adults. Or, as close as my friends come to being adults. I’m currently trying to catch up on emails while waiting for some hockey game J and her boyfriend are excited about to start.
Personally I’m more interested in finding out about this stainless steel drums thing the boyfriend has been talking about. But we have cheesecake and lots of wine, so I’m happy.
I did a ton of grocery shopping for this weekend and we’re going to make a lot of great things, so I’ll try to post some recipes/menus as time allows.

Best 10 minute dinner ever
Written by Jen on May 29, 2010 – 5:29 pm
Well, it was probably more like 20 minutes total, but you get the idea. Just got to the beach house and was starving.
Dan and Paul both went to sleep off their hangovers from yesterday, so I figured I’d make something quick for SBF and myself to eat.
I made steamed mussels in a white wine/garlic sauce and sautéed green beans. Yummy, yummy. We just ate and the guys seem to be stirring. We’re all staying in to watch the 1st Stanley Cup game. Go Flyers!

Back up, y’all!
Written by SBF on May 28, 2010 – 9:47 pmI am rather surprised how invasive people feel comfortable being when you’re pregnant or have a small child. Strangers touching your stomach. A random person on a street corner grabbing the top of a stroller to look at the children inside. Who are these people? Like, you wanna ask a woman in CVS does alli work if she’s buying it? A little uncouth, but whatever. Pulling a blanket aside on an elevator to look at someone’s kid? Rude, rude, rude. Right?
Blech. At least ask, you know?
