Suck it, Health Care haters
Written by Jen on March 22, 2010 – 10:09 amThe bill is far from perfect. The battle is not quite over. But for reals, this fucking rocks.

Alone at last
Written by SBF on March 21, 2010 – 9:34 amSo, my mother has finally left town, and as of this evening the boyfriend is gone for 3 days too. As much as I love living with him, having a couple of days completely to myself is freaking awesome. I plan to play music in all rooms all day (we can do that, it rocks), eat nothing but burgers and fruit, and stay in my robe unless I have to actually leave the house.
Hooray! While it will be fun, I do have a lot of work to do. My previous learnings (not a word, I know) about adipex without prescription paid off, and now I have a ton of writing to do this week.

Belated St Paddy’s Day menu
Written by Jen on March 19, 2010 – 12:45 pmWhoops. In all the craziness I forgot to post this. Sorry.
Being (as far as I know) 0% Irish, I’m not sure where my reverence for St. Patrick’s Day came from. That’s a lie. I celebrate any holiday commonly associated with drinking. That’s just how I roll. The problem is, of course, visiting actual bars on such days tends to be a huge pain in the butt.
So, this year I cooked dinner for a couple of friends. We had corned beef and cabbage, of course. I used Alton Brown’s recipe, but didn’t corn the beef myself because – well, that ‘s a little nuts. I also made some soda bread, which was fucking fantastic, and I’ll be making it all the time now. Plus, homemade bread on the cheap and easy? Double yes.
That was the end of the “traditional” part of the meal. Everything else was just stuff I had, or felt like eating: Haricots Verts with Herb Butter, this bread pudding sans bourbon sauce, and a spinach salad. Lots of yummy food, and tons of leftovers.
Throw a case of Harp on top, and you have a delightful evening. Cinco de Mayo – watch out, I’m coming for you next…

Taking care of business
Written by SBF on March 18, 2010 – 6:46 pmI don’t know if I’ve mentioned lately how much I love consulting. It’s so fun to get to know new clients and have such a range of work going on at the same time. I can’t imagine the last time I was bored working, with a few exceptions. Taxes and documentation stuff is dull, but necessary. But when dealing with my clients it never gets dull because I don’t spend enough time with any one of them to get sick of it, you know?
That’s a nice way to live. Sure, it’s not as dependable as a salaried position somewhere, but the risk is worth it. Instead of ignoring work because I’m tired of whoever or whatever, and spending hours working on cute promotional calenders (ahem), I just get done what I need to, and my free time is mine, without having to sit at a desk without anything to do. Jealous?

Now that’s romance!
Written by Jen on March 16, 2010 – 10:27 amAllow me to interrupt the sweet wedding talk with a slice of real romance, courtesy of the Philadelphia City Paper’s “I Love You, I Hate You” from last week:
“WTF?! You tell me you’re all hot for me and wanna ride me all night and then I see you taking care of not one, but TWO f**king kids the following week?! And they dont even look like they are from the same dad. Real classy, you dark-haired hussie. Congrats, you putz. You just lost out on the best piece o’ man you would evah have. Call me, tho, maybe we can hang out next week…you dusty slut.”
So sweet. Almost makes me cry. Actually it made me fall off my stool at the bar when I read it. Everybody loves a dark haired hussie.

Wine and weddings
Written by SBF on March 15, 2010 – 12:23 pmI spent the weekend with Little Sister and her husband to be (eek!), talking through what they want to do for the wedding, and how to keep their respective parents from taking over the process. I feel like, if you’re paying for it, you get to do what the hell you want.
Like, your father’s opinion about men’s tuxedo shirts is nice to get, but final decisions are made by the people getting married and paying the bill, ya know?
J has agreed to help out, which is fantastic, so I can get out of the process. I want to watch and laugh at the stress while drinking wine. Is that wrong?
