iPhone WordPress app testing
Written by Jen on May 9, 2009 – 10:47 amI downloaded the WordPress application for my iPhone months ago but never actually used it until recently. It’s pretty good, except there are a couple of things you can’t do with it. Or, I should say there are are a couple of things I couldn’t figure out how to do.
I just realized that there are only 3 months left on my contract with AT&T, which means I’ve had my darling iPhone for almost 2 years. And I can’t believe I lived just fine before that with a phone that didn’t have applications and web browsing. I’m so spoiled.
Anyway, I’ve probably tested hundreds of applications (mostly free – I’ve only paid for two). I have 25 or so in the phone right now, but don’t really use a lot of them. The apps that I use regularly, are Tangram Pro and Blocks Classic for games, Twitterific and Facebook for time wasting, and Google mobile for just about everything else.
Note from SBF: You are still in love with your phone, that’s so cute. Want some microdermabrasion?

Quick Moving Update
Written by SBF on May 8, 2009 – 5:52 pmFirst, thanks to J for holding down the fort here. Things are starting to come together at the new house. This is the most time the boyfriend and I have spent together in a long time, and we’re doing well.
Right now we’ve gotten about 60% of the boxes unpacked. That’s all the essentials and some of our books. Everything else is going to stay in the basement for a little while until we’re more settled. I can’t find my camera right now, but this is very similar to the view on the back porch.
Nice, huh? I was looking at the inventory the movers did (new for me for a local move, but helpful… plus they didn’t charge for the time to do it), and together we had 107 boxes. My books and kitchen stuff took up a lot of them. Read more »

In Treatment Analysis from someone who knows
Written by Jen on May 7, 2009 – 3:25 pmNo, not me. I’m talking about Jung at Heart, written by a psychotherapist. There’s a recap of each episode/session, and then some thoughts about the patients, Paul, and the treatment process. It’s really interesting to read. Obviously everyone forms their own opinion about how things are going, but it is nice to see what a professional thinks.
If you’re not watching In Treatment, you should be. Some amazing acting, plus… Gabriel Byrne. He’s still very hot. My crush began with his role in Stigmata. Yes, he played a priest. This isn’t therapy, lay off me.
Tell me that’s not hot.

Cinco De Mayo
Written by Jen on May 5, 2009 – 10:59 amAs the owner of this blog is too busy unpacking or whatever the hell she’s doing to recognize one of our favorite holidays, I’ll do it for her. To quote her from Mardi Gras,
I know I should say something about the rich cultural history of New Orleans and blah blah blah, but I just like excuses to drink a lot. You’ll notice a deep connection to St. Patrick’s day as well, and Cinco de Mayo.
Why respect cultures when you can appropriate their holidays as an excuse to binge drink?
Amen, sister!
Honestly, while I do plan to enjoy fake cultural drinking today, Cinco de Mayo really just makes me think of this Liz Phair song: Read more »

Finally saw Grey Gardens (2009 version)
Written by Jen on May 4, 2009 – 8:43 pmI watched the documentary Grey Gardens in college when I was going through my only hang out with gay guys phase. It was the middle of the night and we were all floored. And wanted to grow up to be Little Edie, except not, of course. If you’ve seen it, I’m sure you know what I mean. Here’s the original trailer. There are less than 5 seconds of film of the Edies in it, but it’s still fantastic. If I remember correctly you can watch most if not all of the documentary on YouTube.
Anyway, right now I’m cableless (don’t ask – my mother is insane), so it takes a while for me to remember to get things I want to watch from uh… other online sources I won’t get into right now…
So onto the HBO production of Grey Gardens. It recounts the lives that led up to the original film, and does an amazing job of recreating some of the most memorable scenes. Jessica Lange is ridiculously good, and Drew Barrymore amazed me. Emmys all around. I’d recommend watching the documentary first, it will really help you appreciate the film.

Hiding at Caribou
Written by SBF on May 2, 2009 – 10:48 amSo, the big move happened. Well, the moving of my stuff and the boyfriend’s stuff happened. The move is long from done. Right now I’m hiding from the insanity at a Caribou coffee. Something about waking up to a house full of boxes id just horrifying to me. I needed to get some work done anyway and pick something up from a client downtown, so I have an excuse. I figure I’ve got another hour or so before the boyfriend comes to find me and drags me back kicking and screaming.
Things went relatively well, with a few small exceptions. Like for some reason we have land line phone service (not wanted), but no internet. Of course. J told me she had no problem moving her DSL from DC to Philly, so of course we couldn’t do it across town a bit. But it’s fine really, because we don’t have time to be online anyway. We’re both not working at all next week so there’s time for it to get figured out. Read more »
