I’m sure everyone’s heard about the woman who just gave birth to octuplets. It seems all of the babies are doing relatively well, which is amazing. Eight babies? Wow.

The woman, who astonished a 46-member medical team at a suburban Los Angeles hospital by delivering eight babies when ultrasound images had shown seven, was also said to be doing well.

The six boys and two girls, born nine weeks prematurely, are only the second set of octuplets known to have survived birth in the United States.

“The first test is the breathing test and … they are breathing on their own,” Dr. Mandhir Gupta told reporters. “They still need some support with oxygen but only through the nose so most of the work of breathing is done by themselves.”

Go medical science, right?The very idea is terrifying, I have to admit. Adding giving birth to 8 babies to the list of things that I am intrigued with for no real reason because I’ll likely never encounter them. Other items on the list include drinking goldschlager, taking a weight loss pill, eyebrow piercing… and well, I’ll stop at those weird random things. There are a lot more.
