Puppy shopping

Written by SBF on February 3, 2010 – 9:05 pm

At some point in every relationship there comes a time to make the big decision. Whether or not to get a puppy. And here we are.

Now, I never thought about having a dog anytime soon. Got a cat and a boyfriend, the house is full, right? Well, yes, until today. Today we ran into a woman who lives down the street. The boyfriend and I helped her unpack her car full of puppy supplies – food, pillows, toys, and who knows what else.

Then we went inside. Her chocolate lab has three ridiculously adorable puppies, and I wanted to keep them all. Which caused me to make the mistake of mentioning it to the boyfriend. He was all in within 10 minutes. And we’ve talked about nothing else for the last two hours.

Right now the idea is to have a puppy play date to see how the cat reacts. The puppies are basically ready to leave their mom, so we will have to decide soon.

Life is full of so many choices. I’m so grown up.

We can’t win

Written by SBF on January 30, 2010 – 10:45 pm

So, the boyfriend and I decided to surprise my girl J for an early birthday hanging out this weekend. We got her boyfriend to help, everything was planned and ready. That was Friday afternoon. We got in the car and headed northwards. We planned to spend the night with an old friend of mine in Delaware (I know!), and then hit Philly on Saturday morning.

Fast forward three hours to us sitting on I-95, experiencing the joys that 24 hour towing companies have to offer. Then another wait to get a ride somewhere. And then the snow started. Suffice it to say we’re spending the rest of this weekend right here in our house. The car is fixed, though.

Mmmm, sandwiches

Written by SBF on January 28, 2010 – 3:10 pm

Have I ever mentioned that I love sandwiches? I do. Almost any kind. I could eat them breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. My dad is always teasing me about making everything into a sandwich. Some people cook their leftovers into a new dish, I slap mine between a couple slices of bread. Today’s menu is a typical example:

Breakfast – Egg and cheddar sandwich on a bagel
Lunch – Leftover meatloaf sandwich (recipe from J – yum)
Dinner – Beef orzo soup and probably 1/2 a sandwich Read more »

Girls on the hunt

Written by SBF on January 26, 2010 – 12:36 pm

As I’m sitting here, trying to find some information about NC health insurance among other things I’ve been thinking about two of my girls trying to find work. And thanking the pestilent gods that I’m not looking too.

J is sick and tired of her stuff so she’s looking for something different, whatever that means. I told her nude modeling is always a rewarding career but she disagreed. Meanwhile, Little Sister is still looking and panicking, poor thing. Good luck, ladies, and anyone else out there who’s in search of work.

Let it Be?

Written by SBF on January 22, 2010 – 9:41 pm

Watching the Haiti telethon with my girls, with some wine. J just called to complain about something on the website. The boyfriend is upstairs counting vitamins or somesuch.

Jennifer Hudson just killed a version of Let it Be. She looks great, too. Not the point, but still. I’m telling the boyfriend we can get married if he can get JHuds to sing at the wedding. Knowing that crazy mofo he’d be able to do it.

Have you donated to help the people of Haiti?
